Why I Finally Got New Branding Photos

Recently, I did something I’d been putting off for far too long - I booked a brand photo shoot.

I know I’m not the only one who’s been meaning to update their business photos for ages, only to keep bumping it down the to-do list. It’s one of those tasks that always feels easy to postpone. I had every excuse under the sun:

  • I don’t have time

  • It’s too much of a faff

  • It’s a big investment

  • I’ll feel awkward and uncomfortable the whole time

  • I still like the photos from my last brand shoot (even though they’re now 3 years old!)

Sound familiar?

But when I spotted that the lovely Alice Slee was offering mini branding shoots at the Blackwell Grange Hotel, just down the road from me in Darlington, I knew it was time to finally get over myself and go for it.

Alice’s mini shoot package was the perfect antidote to all my excuses. It was short (just 20 minutes), stress-free, affordable, and beautifully run. The setting was gorgeous, the whole thing felt relaxed, and Alice was a total dream to work with: professional, warm, and gently encouraging.

I was in and out in no time, and honestly, I left wondering why I’d waited so long.

Beyond the Photos

What I hadn’t expected was how empowering it would feel to show up for myself in this way.

I spend so much of my time behind the scenes helping clients get their admin and operations in order, making their businesses run more smoothly. Like many service-based business owners, I don’t always prioritise my visibility and I definitely don’t love being the centre of attention. But having a refreshed set of photos that actually feel like me? That’s priceless.

These images give me confidence. They help tell the story of who I am and how I work. They’ve already found a home on my website and social media, and I know I’ll get loads of use out of them over the coming months.

If You’ve Been Putting It Off…

If you’ve been dragging your heels on updating your photos too, let this be your nudge. You don’t need a whole production team or a half-day shoot. Sometimes, a short and sweet session with the right photographer is exactly what you need to take that next step in showing up for your business with clarity and confidence.

And if you need help getting your business admin in shape, let’s chat about how I can help take some of that admin off your plate.
